Missions Offering. Every Thursday morning at 9:30 our school worships in chapel. During this service the children give their offerings to the relief effort in Haiti. The second semester’s offering so far is $52.39.
Use ILS SCRIP. Scrip for Immanuel are gift certificates that can be used for your favorite businesses: County Market, McDonald’s, Happy Joe’s, Medford Café, Mirage Hair Design and The Turtle Club. Scrip is available between services every Sunday morning or during the week from the church office. Your purchase through the scrip program benefits ILS students-your own or others.
Butter Braids Sale. Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of this fundraiser for Immanuel Lutheran School Association, which runs through March 3. All profits from this sale goes towards classroom renovations. Returns orders with payment to the school office, Michele Sislo or in the locked box in the narthex of the church. Thank you for supporting our school.
Parent-teachers Conferences are coming up next week Monday, March 1; Tuesday, March 2 and Friday, March 5. Watch for papers coming home indicating the time of your child(ren)’s conference.
Diedforme.com. Check out our website for pictures, upcoming events, calendars and both the church and school newsletters. It’s a great source of information. Information about our school can be found on the “Our School” link on the left hand side of the page.
Basketball Awards Party, 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26th. This event marks the end of the basketball season. All players, cheerleaders, coaches and parents are invited and encouraged to attend. All players and cheerleaders should return their uniforms at this time. Dress casually to compete in the parent/child basketball game, which ends the evening.
The Wizard of Oz. Our spring field trip for students K-8 will be a trip to the Grand Theater in Wausau to see “The Wizard of Oz” Wednesday, April 14 at 10 a.m.

ILSA MEETING NOTES-JANUARY 18, 2010
Pastor Krueger opened the meeting with a devotion based on Spiritual First Aide For The Families.
EMTs Chris Gengler and Chris Nelson presented First Aide For Children including injuries, burns trauma as well as infant choking and infant CPR, a very brief overview of the basics. They both recommended a class for the parents, teachers with Jane Laub to be provided with prices, dates of upcoming classes.
Chris Nelson also recommended the AED be moved from the present location of in the hall at school to an area in the narthex to be closer if needed. Note of the day: “Bad CPR is better than no CPR”.
REPORTS Secretary report, Michele Sislo with one addition from John Tappe regard the need to promote, advertise events sponsored by ILSA including Mission Festival and Souper Bowl Sundae, other fundraisers.
Treasurer’s report, Kris McMurry with questions regarding classroom renovations and hope to finish all renovations this summer.
LLAM report, Candy Parks. LLAM continues to expand about one child a month. LLAM is open when school is closed presenting some difficulties with snow removal. LLAM will also continue with 4-year old pre-k at the current half day schedule vs. public school full days to offer parents a choice for their children next year.
Scrip report. Scrip will now be available for sale between services with volunteers needed to assist on Sundays between services to sell cards. This will start January 31. The following cards will be available: County Market in $100 and $25 amounts, McDonalds, Medford Café and Happy Joe’s. These cards will also be available from Diane during the week for purchase.
PSC report, John Tappe. FYI regarding Mr. Hassler’s 30th year in teaching, ministry as well as celebrating 5 years with us. A reception is being planned between services on April 18th for Mr. Hassler. A tentative plan is for all children and junior choir to sing and for the handbell choir to play if possible. All school children are also being asked to sing in the four local WELS churches between now and spring to provide information about ILS with a parent, teacher and/or PSC board member to provide a short presentation about ILS.
Attendance. Mr. Hassler wins again with a close 3-way tie for second by Mrs. Beard, Mr. Hering and Mrs. Parks. Thanks to all parents who attended.
NEW BUSINESS Fundraisers. All fundraisers have done very well. Thank you for your support!
Souper Bowl Sundae-February 7th. Jane Laub would appreciate any donation either food, scrip or cash for supplies by February 1 as well as assistance making the chili on February 6, set up before second service on February 7 and clean up afterwards. Silent Auction on Souper Bowl Sundae. Angie Apfelbeck needs baskets and items for silent auction by February 1. Bring items to Mrs. Reinhart’s room.
School Spirit Week, February 1-5. Parent’s night basketball game February 5th.
Spirit Days being planned include: Monday-Fashion Disaster; Tuesday-Beach Day; Wednesday-Dress Your Best Day; Thursday-PJ Day; Friday-Red/White Day and the Pep Rally. Come and show your school spirit!
Lenten Meal is February 17, 5 p.m. This will again be our kickoff for the Butter Braid sales with the sale to run from February 17 through March 3 and delivery for March 14. Thanks to Michele Sislo and Angie Apfelbeck for assisting with the sale.
Game Bus to Schofield. If there is enough interest from families, there will be a bus going to the basketball game in Schofield on February 12 with a planned cost of $5 per person, except players, cheerleaders, teachers and coaches. We also plan to stop at Burger King after the game for supper. A reservation sheet was sent home Wednesday with students.
